Hello all.
So things in my world have been pretty hectic, lately.
I'm getting ready for college, making a full soundtrack for the next three episodes of An Unfortunate Girl, and maintaining my job all at once. Some people are great at multitasking...but I'm not one of those people.
My cartoon is many months overdue, and I apologize for that. Animating is not my main hobby. Music is.
If I have a moment of free time, it's usually spent making music, whether it be for the pure fun of it, or for someone else's project that I have been hired to do music for. Music just comes so much more naturally to me. Animating, on the other hand, does not. I am VERY slow at it, and I am STILL learning new things about it everyday (Keyboard shortcuts, FBF techniques, quality lip syncing, etc.)
BUT, I love bringing my ideas and stories to life. I find animation very challenging, but fun.
This cartoon I am currently working on (An Unfortunate Girl: TWO) is pushing the boundaries of what I THOUGHT I could accomplish. When I started the project, I wanted it to look amazing, unlike the first two episodes. I wanted it to look QUALITY. So I made I promise to myself : I WILL BLOW PEOPLE AWAY WITH THIS CARTOON.
So, for the last however many months, I have been searching for the best voice actors and actresses I could find, making a full soundtrack to go with the next few episodes, and animating very slowly, but maturely. Not to mention reading up on animation techniques and learning to draw better so my characters don't look retarded anymore...something I should have done years ago. I am making every animation sequence look as smooth and beautiful as I possibly can. I'm developing each character fully so, when they feel sad, happy, mad, or whatever - you, too, will feel that emotion. I'm making sure the story is more understandable and meaningful than when I first wrote it all those years ago. So many things. I'm training myself to draw and animate more 'maturely'. That's the only word I can think of to describe it.
Why am I working so hard on an internet cartoon that will probably only be submitted on Newgrounds, a site mostly built around short comedy animations? I don't know. I guess I want to bring something new to the site. I want to be known for something. I want to show that I can make my own original serious story, animate it, create unique music for it, and gain the respect of other animators, animation lovers, and even the people who have dissed my work in the past (honestly, I have improved since then...I promise. Haha.) But I can't just SAY this animation will be quality. I have to prove it. Some animators/artists choose to argue with the people who say their work sucks. Or maybe they will take it personally and get mad or sad. To me, when someone says they hate my stuff, I see it as a challenge to gain that person's respect by improving. Some people, I know, will never like what I do. But all I can do is try to please as many people as I can. It's what I do!
SO. I am going to be done with this animation soon. Not just the next episode, but the whole series. I'll be going to art school in Florida in August, and I'll be pretty darn busy, and sure as heck won't have the time to do much animating (except for the projects I'll be doing for school) so I'll need to knock the whole series out by then. Right now, I am mostly finishing up the soundtrack and making anything that came out sloppy in the animation look better.
So, this whole post was for you few people who are wondering why this thing is taking me so long. I am so grateful for your support and patience. You guys are so rad. I'm probably forgetting to say something...oh well. If you have any questions, just ask. Alright. Okay.
Peace!
